BikePark Wales now open
BikePark Wales in Merthyr Tydfil is now officially open.
The purpose built trail centre which cost £2 million to setup has been designed by director Rowan Sorrell, the downhill champion with a mixture of trails to suit all abilities from families to professional downhillers.
The Park seems very well equipped with an uplift service (for a fee), a cafe, bike shop and bike hire all purpose built on site.
The bike hire is done in conjunction with Trek with some great bikes on offer – in fact something from each point in the range, with “dreambikes” a hire option as well. Always wanted to try and top of the range full sus Trek on a proper downhill run? Well that’s on offer.
The whole setup looks very good and professional, which it is – there is a £5 a day entry fee, or £75 a year deal. Frankly I think that’s worth it – I will happily pay for a quality experience. I’m really hoping to get down and try it sometime soon.
The BBC have done a report with some film of the park which can been seen here and there is some YouTube footage of the blue and red runs below.
